How do I enter credits for solar panels?

Taxpayers who install solar panels may be eligible for the Residential Clean Energy credit, which is a nonrefundable credit. Navigate to that section to enter the credit amount in Scenario Analysis.

The Inflation Reduction Act extended the credit for the installation of solar panels on residential property through 2034. Holistiplan cannot calculate the amount of the credit for you, but you can enter this credit by navigating to the Nonrefundable Credits section, clicking on the pencil icon in the Residential Energy Credit row, and entering the amount in the Residential Clean Energy Credit field:

While entering an amount in either field of this modal modal won't impact the total calculation of the Residential Energy credits, entering an amount in the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit will impact the calculation of the Child Tax Credit, as that credit is one that potentially limits how much of the Child Tax Credit an eligible taxpayer can claim.
