MFS (Married Filing Separate) or Single to MFJ (Married Filing Jointly)
How to switch from MFS or Single Filing Status to MFJ (and vice versa) in Scenario Analysis
First, upload each MFS or Single tax return as normal into the couple's household. (Note: because you are uploading two separate returns, each one counts towards your total uploads for your subscription year if you are on an upload-based pricing plan).
In Scenario Analysis, click "+Add a Scenario" > "Load Tax Return (Read Only)" and select the first return. Repeat this process to add the second return. Then "+Add a Scenario" > "Create Blank Scenario" as a third scenario. In this scenario, manually add the numbers from Scenario 1 and 2 into the new Scenario 3. You can do the same for a MFJ couple who wants to see what it would be like to file separately, just in reverse.
To change the filing status, you can do so by expanding the filing status bar in the Filing Status / Age / Dependents Section and using the dropdown menu. You will also want to indicate the Taxpayer(s) as applicable for your scenario as shown below.
