Tax Report: Schedule B Income Sources

The tax return is a wealth of knowledge about your client. Schedule B can help you identify their income-producing accounts, both that you may and may not be aware of.

This table on the Tax Report will summarize both the source and amount of investment income (i.e., interest and dividends). Peter and Paula appear to have multiple banks and investment accounts that generate interest and dividends. If you don’t manage all of your clients’ investments, this can be a good opportunity to measure how much income their other accounts are generating. Alternatively, if you do manage all of your clients’ investments and an account shows up on this table that you weren’t aware of, you now have a good talking point for your next conversation.
