[P&C Insurance Planning](https://help.holistiplan.com/pc-insurance-planning?hsLang=en) # State Hints for P&C Insurance  When a client's state of residence is entered on the household detail screen, the P&C Insurance Report automatically generates a list of state-specific planning hints that identify where tax and estate planning decisions have direct implications for P&C planning and client protection needs. These hints are designed to surface those connections so you can have more informed planning conversations with your clients. **Note**: State Hints for P&C Insurance are general in nature and are not specific to the policies uploaded on the declaration page  ### **Where it appears** The State Hints section appears at the end of the P&C Insurance Report, after all document insights. It can be shown or hidden using the Show in Report toggle in the section header. The toggle is on by default. The toggle is on by default. When toggled off, the section is hidden in the printed and PDF version of the report but remains visible on screen. Individual hints cannot be hidden at this time; the toggle controls the entire section. ### **Not seeing hints?** If the State Hints section is not appearing in a report, check that the state field is filled out in the Details section of the household screen. **Valued Policy Law** - how state law affects total loss payouts and what that means for the tax and coverage picture - **Homestead Exemption** - how much primary residence equity is protected from creditor claims in the client's state, and what that means for liability coverage -
